Yes – substituting water with 911 Damp Solution will not only improve the mechanical properties but also reduce the curing period.

911 Damp Solutions cannot be applied to a surface or substrate as an intermediary treatment between two plaster surfaces or underlying brick substrate. If a surface is treated with 911 Damp Solutions prior to applying plaster, hydration cannot take place due to the water repellent properties of 911 Damp Solutions:

  • Portland cement plaster mix strengthens by chemical and physical contact with water, aggregate, and the substrate or surface it is applied to. A necessity when curing cement is enough water in the mortar or mix to hydrate the paste. Water is a catalytic agent for curing.
  • A chemical reaction takes place when water and cement are brought into contact with each other during initial stages of mixing, whether by a mechanical mixer or manual mixing.
  • A series of new chemical reactions take place when compounds form. This binds the grains of sand or mortar within the mixture and the substrate or surface simultaneously. Water combines is the critical factor in this reaction as it combines with the cement and the substrate.
  • This reaction is designated hydration. If hydration is unable to take place, failure of the plaster mix will be evident.

911 Damp Solution treatment will last up to 25 years

Yes. 911 Damp Solution can be used as a primer and will extend the lifespan of the paint on the treated surface.

Yes. When applying 911 Damp Solution, the chemical enters the microscopic capillaries within the surface to form a solid bond. When paint is applied, it is unable to enter these microscopic capillaries. Less paint is therefore required.

Yes. The main cause of paint failures on adjacent walls is caused by penetrating damp on tile areas. Moisture or water penetrates tile grout and the bottom corners at right angles to the floor.

Application

To prevent damp penetration thoroughly, the treated area should be completely dry and free from moisture. Spray the entire tile area generously with 911 Damp Solutions. Leave for 1 hour after which excess chemical should be removed using a damp cloth.
